Telehouse International Corporation of Europe, a leading global data center service provider, has announced plans to expand its Telehouse South facility in London, UK. Skanska has been chosen as the contractor for the first phase of the main works, which includes adding two floors of colocation space to the facility by June 2024.
The expansion will increase the facility’s overall capacity to 7.7MW across three floors of colocation space. The project will also include the installation of new mechanical, electrical, and public health (MEPH) infrastructure, the redesign of existing plant areas, and the removal and recycling of redundant equipment. New cladding will be added to improve building insulation and facility security. Other upgrades will include new vehicle management systems, boundary fencing, CCTV upgrades and analytics, a new security gatehouse, cycle storage, meeting rooms, and breakout spaces. Telehouse South officially opened in the spring of 2022 and was acquired from Thomson Reuters in 2021. Once fully developed, the facility will provide 12,000 sqm (129, 000 sq fr) of colocation space across six floors and a total power capacity of 18MW.
Telehouse also announced the opening of a new €250 million data center, at the TH3 Paris Magny Campus in Paris, France. The new data center, the statement says, is expected to play a leading role in the coming years, providing active support to French and European digital sovereignty, alongside the digital transformation of businesses.
Sami Slim, General Manager of Telehouse France said “Our new datacenter fits into our strategic plan, supporting European and national digital sovereignty, helping to broaden our hosting and connectivity capabilities. We seek to attract global internet traffic to Europe, offering our clients trusted, efficient infrastructure, with low environmental impact, so they can successfully pursue their own strategy for growth.”
The TH3 Paris Magny Campus has an environmentally responsible design, high-level security and a 12,000 m2 IT surface area. It operates at a total electrical power of 18MW, and has the highest standard of resilience, with 99.999% service availability. It is also strategically located, on a former EADS military site, about 30 minutes from central Paris, and can accommodate extended IT infrastructure for companies.
