Africa's digital landscape is ablaze with activity. New and faster subsea cables have landed on the continent, towercos and fiber networks are sprouting across cities, and satellite companies are eyeing mobile broadband dominance—all driven by the relentless pursuit of seamless connectivity. Yet, amidst this individual brilliance, a critical piece remains missing: convergence. Without a unifying conductor harmonizing these efforts, the true potential of Africa's digital transformation remains unrealized.
Subsea cables carry data at breakneck speeds, but populations struggle with patchy last-mile connections. ISPs and Towercos duplicate fiber to homes, but data center capacity lags behind, throttling the potential of cloud computing. Space-based internet beams down, but rural communities remain in digital darkness due to cost, lack of inclusive infrastructure, and literacy barriers. This fragmented approach leads to inefficient resource allocation, connectivity bottlenecks, and stunted growth of digital ecosystems, with the proverbial too much water and none to drink.
The answer lies in convergence—harmonizing the diverse instruments of digital infrastructure into a cohesive symphony. Collaborative efforts across verticals are crucial, bringing together subsea operators, towercos, ISPs, government, civil society, space, data center stakeholders, and funders. Together, these stakeholders can chart a collective digital future for Africa and work towards it, ensuring that the continent's digital transformation is inclusive, efficient, and far-reaching.

Africa's digital infrastructure is expanding with mobile networks, internet penetration, and investments in data centers and fiber optic cables. However, challenges persist limited broadband access, especially in rural areas, high costs of internet services and devices, unreliable power supply, inconsistent regulations, and funding gaps. Additionally, a shortage of skilled professionals and rising cybersecurity threats hinder progress. Oluwasayo Oshadami

Oluwasayo Oshadami is the General Manager, Technical Solutions and Managed Networks at MainOne, an Equinix Company. He is responsible for solutions design and architecture for networks/interconnections and data centers, commercial solutions, and project delivery for customer requirements in West Africa.
He has been in MainOne for over 13 years and has extensive industry experience in network and data centre designs, planning, and implementation in West Africa. He is a graduate of Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Federal University of Technology Minna.
Wole Abu is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Liquid Intelligent Technologies Nigeria. Prior to his appointment at Liquid Intelligent Technologies, Abu served as the Chief Executive Officer of Pan African Towers, a telecom infrastructure company he built to one of the leading towercos in Nigeria. Abu also served as Vice President of Sales at Airtel Nigeria, where he also held several senior management roles in the Human Resources, Engineering, Operations, Finance, Legal, and Marketing departments respectively since joining the company in 2010. He worked with Vee Networks Limited as a Project Manager from 2004 to 2006 before joining Celtel Nigeria Limited, Zain Nigeria Limited and Bharti Airtel Limited in 2006 as HOD Business Support, in 2009 as Regional Sales Manager, and in 2012 as General Manager, Acquisition.
This polyfocal blend of functional skills, makes Abu a very experienced leader and force in the telecoms sector as he is poised to bridge the connectivity gap in Africa in an environmentally sustainable fashion. This is demonstrated as he was recently honoured as one of the most influential black CEOs to Follow in 2023 by CIOVIEWS Magazine, a globally renowned Magazine. Shortly after, he forged a partnership with Meta AI for the launch of the Large Language Model AI (LlaMa 2) in July 2023. He was also recognised as one of the Top 50 Digital Economy Leaders at the 8th Africa Digital Economy Awards (ADEA) in 2023. This achievement is not shocking as he was named one of the top 20 Towercos Chief Executives in the World by TowerXchange in 2020. Abu, in his storied career also won the Nigeria Tech Innovation and Telecom Award (NTITA) by the Association of Telecommunication Companies of Nigeria (ATCON) for his outstanding contributions to the growth and development of the telecom industry. Abu was also elected by the same association to serve as its Publicity Secretary in 2020-2023 and was recently appointed as the organisation’s Treasurer in 2023. He has managed across startups and mature companies, leading these businesses into periods of massive and rapid growth through new business service rollouts, while driving positive change in the respective companies.
Abu was instrumental to Liquid Intelligent Technologies building the largest data centre in Nigeria called the Africa Data Centre. Abu led Liquid to be the first company to light up capacity on the Equiano cable in Nigeria with Active Nx100G waves between Lagos to Sesimbra, Portugal and Lagos to Melkbosstrand South Africa. He also led Liquid Nigeria to deliver over 150km of metro fiber in Lagos. With operations launched officially in November 2022, Abu has led Liquid Intelligent Technologies to have active PoPs in Lagos, Abuja and Port-Harcourt, making the company a one stop shop for local and international connectivity, cloud, cyber security, SD-WAN, SAN and systems integration in Nigeria.
Abu is a member of the Project Management Institute, and volunteers regularly for causes that protect families and empowers communities. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering with Honours from the University of Benin in 1990 and an MBA from the Lagos Business School in 2006. In 2012, Abu attended the Indian Institute of Business Management, Ahmedabad where he acquired a certification in Business Administration and Management. In 2020, Abu got a professional education certification from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Digital Transformation: From AI and IoT to Blockchain, Cloud and Cybersecurity. In the same year, the Technological Titan attended the Podcasting Workshop and got the POD Certificate granted.Abu has attended several leadership courses in top educational institutions and consistently gives talks and makes presentations in top conferences and seminars globally. Gbenga Adegbiji is the CEO of Geniserve Limited, a leading digital infrastructure consultancy firm.
He is a seasoned IT/Telecom Infrastructure professional with 22 years' experience in Data Center and Optics Fibre Networks. He holds degrees in Engineering, Management, and Business from the University of Lagos (BSc), Lagos Business School (GMP), and Manchester Business School (MBA). Gbenga excels in Data Centre Designs, Building, Operations, and holds certifications including Uptime Tier III TCDD & TCCF, ISO 27001, ISO 9001, PCIDSS. As Lead Consultant, he has overseen the design, construction, and operational processes of numerous Data Centers across Nigeria and West Africa. Gbenga is a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (MNSE), a PMP, and a CDCE.
Dan Croft

Dan has over 27 years of experience in infrastructure across emerging markets, mostly in sub-Saharan Africa. He started his career at Clifford Chance, training and qualifying as a lawyer in the Energy & Infrastructure Department and working in London, Singapore, Prague and Moscow. He then joined Globeleq as a Senior Lawyer, focusing on the development and financing of IPPs in Africa. From there he moved to Empower, an Actis-backed start-up developer of temporary HFO IPP solutions in Africa, the Middle East and Asia, as Commercial Director. In 2012, after a brief stint as a freelance infrastructure development consultant, Dan joined IFC in the PPP Transaction Advisory Services team in Johannesburg, to focus on renewable energy. He worked on wind, hydro and waste projects across sub-Saharan Africa, before co-founding the Scaling Solar program and leading the public sector transaction advisory team on the successful pilot implementation in Zambia. He joined the Africa Infrastructure department team in 2017, becoming Regional Upstream Manager in 2019 and living in Dakar and Accra. He moved to his current position in January 2024 and is now based in Lagos. Dan holds an LLB from Durham University, an LLM from University College London and an Executive MBA from London Business School.

Lanre Kolade is the founder of Koltronics Nigeria Limited and the Chairman of ConnectedCompute.
Before this he was the Group Chief Executive Officer at CSquared, a pan-African operator of wholesale, open-access broadband infrastructure He has over 26 years of experience in the telecommunications industry spanning both Francophone and Anglophone Africa.
Prior to joining CSquared, he was Managing Director of Vodacom Business in Nigeria. He also previously served as Managing Director of Vodacom Business for the West, East, Central, & South-East regions in Africa. He is a graduate of Wits Business School, London Business School, and Obafemi Awolowo University, holding a BSc in Electrical Engineering/Telecoms.

Engr. Ikechukwu Nnamani is the Chief Executive Officer of Digital Realty Nigeria (formally Medallion Data Centres Limited). For over 16 years under his leadership the Digital Realty datacenter in Lagos is rated the most interconnected facility in the West African sub-region being the number 1 peering point for the region and boosting all submarine cables in the region, long distance providers, metro fiber providers, mobile services providers, fixed services providers, OTT providers, Internet Exchange, VAS providers, and global Tier1 service providers, amongst others. Over 68% of all internet traffic exchanged at the Nigeria Internet Exchange takes place at Digital Realty’s datacenter in Lagos, Nigeria. Digital Realty has recently completed its ultra-modern 1MW IT Load state of the art datacenter called LOS2 in Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria.
Folasade Dada

Folasade “Sade” Dada is an attorney by training serving as Public Policy Manager, Anglophone West Africa and Connectivity and Innovation Policy Manager, Africa at Meta Platforms, Inc. (formerly Facebook). Sade collaborates with stakeholders from government, civil society, academia, and industry to find solutions to complex internet policy issues facing African countries. She also works with various teams within and external to Meta to ensure internet connectivity initiatives and innovative products/solutions (such as AI and the Metaverse) are executed successfully. Sade is passionate about bringing high-speed connectivity to communities and enabling tech ecosystems in Africa so that individuals can access the internet and technology and their economic and social benefits. She was recognized as one of the 50 Most Valuable People in Nigeria’s Digital Economy. She is a member of the Nigeria Internet Governance Forum—Multistakeholder Advisory Group and the Internet Society—Nigeria Chapter.
Prior to Meta, Sade tackled significant broadband deployment issues through her work at the Wireless Infrastructure Association, U.S. Federal Communications Commission, and Microsoft. She was also an Associate Instructor in Indiana University’s Telecommunications Department.
Sade earned her Bachelors in Journalism from Georgia Southern University, her Masters in Telecommunications from Indiana University, and her Juris Doctorate from Indiana University Maurer School of Law.

Sameer has over 17 years of consulting experience, specializing in digital infrastructure, and leads the firm's data centre initiatives across the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia. His extensive experience provides him with a deep understanding of the evolving data centre markets in these regions, including the key drivers and inhibitors of overall demand, the growing trend towards outsourcing to third-party service providers, cloud adoption, and the rise of AI. Sameer is also well-versed in the entry of hyperscalers, colocation pricing, and unit economics. Dr Hakeem Onasanya
Head, Startups (Lagos Innovates), Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF)
Dr Hakeem Onasanya heads the Startups (Lagos Innovates) team at the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund. In this role, he leads the curation, execution, and evaluation of interventions that supports startups, Innovation-driven enterprises, talents and tech hubs in Lagos. His vision is to exponentially create jobs while leveraging technology and also position Lagos as the startup capital of Africa and very soon, the world.
He is a multiple award winner being the recipient of the 2022 Ooni of Ife's Royal African Young Leadership Forum Award, the 2023 winner of The Future Award Africa Prize for Governance and a 2024 Africa Emerging Leader Awardee.
Upon graduation from the College of Medicine, University of Lagos as a dentist, and before transitioning into the Public Sector, he completed a Masters of Public Policy Degree from the University of Oxford as an Africa Initiative for Governance (AIG) Scholar. At the university, he was the Vice President of the University of Oxford Africa Society. He is also an alumnus of the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.

Prior to his government role, Mr. Alake held the position of General Manager of IT and Innovation at the Filmhouse and FilmOne Group, the largest Cinema and Motion Picture distribution group in West Africa. His career started as a technology consultant in Philadelphia, USA, where he tackled technology-related challenges for clients spanning the hardware and software domains.
Upon his return to Nigeria, Mr. Alake assumed the role of Technical Learning & Development Specialist at IPNX Telecoms Nigeria Ltd. His responsibilities encompassed the deployment and management of technical and organizational learning programs, which played a pivotal role in elevating organizational productivity.
Subsequently, his tenure at IPNX saw him assume various functional and leadership roles, notably as the Head of the Business Intelligence unit.
Mr. Olatubosun also made significant contributions as the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Innovation and Technology. His efforts led to an impressive 250% increase in innovation activity within the government. Known for his adept problem-solving skills and the ability to identify critical issues and provide value-driven solutions, he played a crucial role in the initial phase of the Lagos State Smart City project. Mr. Alake holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer & Information Science from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. Additionally, he possesses a Master's in Business Administration with a concentration in General Management. He also holds a certificate in Organizational Choice Architecture and decision Science from the Harvard Kennedy School; and a certificate in Policy for Science, Technology and Innovation from the MITx program.
Douglas Njenga Irungu is the Director - Regulatory Affairs and Special Projects for the West Indian Ocean Cable and Open Access Data Centre companies. He is an Advocate and Notary Public in Kenya with over a decade in the practice of law, a Chartered Accountant (CPAK) and Project Management Professional (PMP)
He works extensively in the terrestrial, undersea cable and data center sectors as a strategic negotiator for the company with vendors, partners in identifying compelling opportunities for partnership or expansion as well as contracting for strategic initiatives necessary to meet near-term and future network infrastructure needs.
He also works closely with licensing and permitting authorities, landing parties, and construction and maintenance for terrestrial and subsea telecoms infrastructure and Data Centers. He has participated in negotiating commercial agreements for construction and maintenance, capacity sales, system supply, landings, and financing of major terrestrial and subsea cables and other strategic investments of the company across Africa.
Adewole Adebisi

Adewole is the Head of Technical Operations at Raxio Group, a leading data centre company in Africa. With extensive expertise in operations management, process and policy development, spares management, business continuity, change management, presales, outsourcing, insourcing, and people management, Adewole has a proven track record of driving efficiency and innovation. Adewole is dedicated to optimizing technical operations and ensuring seamless business continuity, making significant contributions to the company’s success and helping to develop the next generation of data Centre leaders in Africa.
Ifeanyi is a C-Level expert, and currently the Managing Director at inq Digital, a Pan African Edge Computing, Intelligent Connectivity and Cloud company with footprint in South Africa, Malawi, Cameroon, Cote D’Ivoire, Botswana, Zambia, and network peering connections in UK, Europe and the Middle East.
Ifeanyi is an MBA with a background in Big Data Analytics from the Alliance Manchester Business School, UK. He is passionate about access innovations and gets excited by every opportunity to support in enabling partners with access to convergence channels for accelerated growth.
Some of his biggest accomplishments include growth acceleration through corporate collaborations with the largest industry players with a combined access to over 100M digital natives.

Tranos Contracting Ltd has in conjunction with Biswal Limited developed a Hybrid power solution for IHS towers in a $100 million
transaction. He led a buyout of Nigeria’s first and premier indigenous telecommunications equipment supplier, accat (Nigeria) Ltd from the private equity owners (African Capital Alliance) for a total gross consideration of $8 million. Subsequently, he turned it around and the business presently has an enterprise value of over $20 million.
Babatunde Edun also led a buyout of the pioneer investors in Exchange Telecommunications (interconnect service provider) which in 2 years after the buyout emerged as the largest provider of the service in the country (2017 revenues - $63 million). Leveraging on his wealth of knowledge and experience, Mr. Edun deploys his deep knowledge of the Nigerian operating environment to solve business problems.

The project delivered Nigeria’s first centralized database of biometrics verified civil servants for the automated
processing of salaries, pensions, taxes, and other processes across two data centres.
He served as the pioneer chairman of the Government Payments Initiative Working group of the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) curated Nigeria’s Payment System Vision 2020 (PSV 2020) and continues to be a resource on national payment initiatives.
