Raxio Group has strengthened Francophone West Africa’s digital infrastructure with a new data center, the CIV1, in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire. With this launch, Raxio now has seven data centers (two will launch later this year) and its third launch this year alone. This state-of-the-art 800 racks data center is the first Tier III certified carrier-neutral and cloud-neutral facility in the country, designed to support the growing demand for data consumption and local content in francophone West Africa. With its Tier III Certification of Design Documents (TCDD) under its belt, the company plans to achieve the Tier III Certification of Constructed Facility (TCCF) within a month.
Located at the Village of Innovation and Technology (VITIB) in Grand Bassam, CIV1 is equipped to house up to 800 racks and deliver 3MW of IT power. It aims to serve as a regional hub for the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU), which includes Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Niger, Senegal, and Togo.

CIV1 features multiple power and fiber connection paths, ensuring high reliability and excellent domestic and international connectivity. The facility will also host the country’s Internet Exchange Point (CIVIX), promoting low-cost interconnection for local and international traffic.
Emphasizing sustainability, Raxio CIV1 incorporates renewable energy solutions and energy-efficient design to achieve exceptional Power Usage Efficiency (PUE) ratios.
Raphael Konan, General Manager for Ivory Coast, expressed pride in the facility’s role in driving digital inclusion. “We are looking forward to welcoming customers into an international-standard and industry-accredited data center,” he said.
With this launch, Raxio continues to expand its pan-African footprint, addressing the rising demand for high-quality data infrastructure across the continent. Following the opening of facilities in Uganda, Mozambique, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, Raxio plans to launch additional centers in Angola and Tanzania.
