AI: Cisco Buys AI Firm Splunk In $28 Billion Cash Deal

Cisco, global leader in IT and networking announced Thursday it agreed to buy analytics and artificial intelligence-powered cybersecurity firm Splunk for $28 billion, at $157 per share in cash. 

The acquisition builds on Splunk’s heritage of helping organizations enhance their digital resilience and will accelerate Cisco’s strategy to securely connect everything to make anything possible. The combination of these two established leaders in AI, security and observability will help make organizations more secure and resilient.

The two vendors will look to help enterprise customers tap these AI opportunities and gain visibility to their data. The acquisition is expected to be finalized by the end of the third quarter of next year, subject to regulatory approval, following which, Splunk President and CEO, Steele will be part of Cisco’s executive leadership team reporting to Robbins.
