Ethiopian Electric Utility (EEU) has signed a deal to host its digital infrastructure inside Wingu. Africa’s Addis Ababa data center is aiming to improve reliability, security, and operational efficiency across the national power grid.

“This partnership with Wingu reflects our vision to modernize the way we deliver electricity services in Ethiopia,” said EEU CIO Michael Debela.
Wingu deputy CEO and co-founder Demos Kyriacou said the Tier III facility will ensure “the highest levels of security, efficiency, and uptime.”

Wingu, which entered Ethiopia in 2022 and opened its Addis facility in 2023, offers 10MW of capacity and hosts the country’s first Internet Exchange Point through a partnership with ADDIX. In June, the operator secured $60m from Rand Merchant Bank to expand across Djibouti, Ethiopia, and Tanzania.

Ethiopia’s data center footprint remains small, with only five listed facilities in Addis Ababa from operators including Raxio, RedFox, and Safaricom.
