Nigeria and Denmark have formalised a new era of digital cooperation through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy and the Government of Denmark.

“When Nigeria calls for collaboration, Denmark responds,” said Lina Gandløse Hansen, Danish State Secretary for Trade, in a statement that underscored the spirit of partnership driving this engagement.

The MoU aims to strengthen collaboration in key areas, including digital infrastructure, artificial intelligence (AI), connectivity, and innovation, with both countries expressing a shared commitment to advancing digital growth. The partnership will also support efforts to scale broadband infrastructure, pilot smart governance solutions, and create pathways for Nigerian tech talent to contribute to Danish companies both remotely and in person.

According to Nigeria’s Honorable Minister, Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, this agreement represents “another proof that Nigeria is open for partnerships and determined to localise global best practices.”

Beyond the MoU, Denmark has also pledged €12 million through the European Union in support of Nigeria’s 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme, reaffirming its commitment to investing in Nigeria’s growing digital economy.

The collaboration reflects a growing recognition of Nigeria’s position as one of Africa’s leading digital innovation hubs and signals stronger bilateral ties focused on sustainable, technology-driven development.
