OpenAI’s co-founder and president, Greg Brockman, has resigned from the company after the sudden firing of CEO Sam Altman. The board terminated Altman, citing a lack of consistent candor in communications that hindered its responsibilities.

Alongside Brockman, three key researchers, Jakub Pachocki, Aleksander Madry, and Szymon Sidor, have also left OpenAI. The company’s chief technology officer, Mira Murati, has been appointed as interim CEO, with a search underway for a permanent successor.

Altman, a co-founder since 2015, played a pivotal role in OpenAI’s mission for transparent AI development. The board, including OpenAI’s chief scientist Ilya Sutskever, Quora CEO Adam D’Angelo, technology entrepreneur Tasha McCauley, and Helen Toner, expressed a commitment to the mission of ensuring AI benefits all of humanity.

Brockman, while remaining president, stepped down as the chairman of the board and has since quit the company. The exact details of the communications issue were not disclosed. Altman expressed gratitude for his transformative time at OpenAI on Twitter, hinting at future announcements.
