Paratus adds two fiber links between Mozambique, South Africa

Paratus Group, a leading connectivity solutions provider in Africa, has launched two new cross-border fiber links connecting Mozambique and South Africa. These routes provide an alternative to the typical sub-sea cable connections and introduce resilience through two distinct fiber routes into South Africa. One route traverses Eswatini, and the other follows the Kamati Poort route.

This dual-route approach enhances network stability and resilience. In case of an unexpected cable outage, the second fiber link seamlessly takes over, ensuring uninterrupted communications and data transmission. This failover mechanism eliminates downtime and disruptions associated with single-path connectivity solutions.

Paratus believes that these cross-border fiber links will bolster Mozambique’s technological infrastructure and contribute to a secure digital future for the nation.

Paratus Group has a presence in seven African countries and offers satellite connectivity-focused services in more than 35 African countries. The company’s extensive network extends beyond Africa to international points of presence in the UK, Europe, and the US.

In 2022, Paratus Group signed an agreement with OneWeb to build a satellite gateway in Angola’s capital, Luanda, and in 2023, it became a reseller of Starlink’s satellite internet services in Africa. Additionally, Paratus Botswana completed a metro fiber ring in 2023 to provide high-speed connectivity in Gaborone, Botswana’s capital city.
