Sonatel Group, the Senegalese telecom operator majority-owned by Orange, has appointed Brelotte Ba as Chief Executive Officer, effective August 1, 2025. He succeeds Sékou Drame, who has led the group since 2018.

Ba, a seasoned telecom executive with 24 years in the sector, steps into the role after serving as Deputy Managing Director of Orange Middle East and Africa. A graduate of École Polytechnique de Paris and École des Ponts, Ba has held key leadership roles across the Sonatel ecosystem, including top posts in Guinea, Bissau, Mali, and at the group level in Dakar.

Sonatel’s board said Ba is expected to reinforce the company’s leadership in Africa’s digital economy and deepen its commitment to digital inclusion. His mandate includes steering growth in a rapidly evolving market and strengthening Sonatel’s regional footprint.
