Tencent Cloud and Digital Edge, a pioneering data center platform company, have announced their collaboration to improve connectivity via peering at the Edge Peering Internet Exchange (EPIX), hosted at the EDGE1 data center in Jakarta.
This collaboration allows Tencent Cloud direct access to the EPIX platform, (operated by PT Ekagrata Data Gemilang (“EDGE DC”). With this partnership, Tencent Cloud has reaffirmed its dedication to fostering connectivity and reinforcing digital infrastructure in emerging markets, including Indonesia.
EPIX is an exceptional carrier-neutral Internet exchange that offers ultra-high-speed connectivity, powered by a robust, redundant network platform. It serves as a valuable tool for all peering participants, including Carriers, ISPs, Content Providers, and Enterprises, facilitating swift and cost-effective exchange of IP traffic. Whether the goal is to optimize network performance, enhance redundancy, or reduce operational costs, EPIX stands as the ideal platform to connect with the global network.
Tencent Cloud’s position as one of the first cloud service providers to join EPIX in Jakarta underscores its confidence in the Indonesian cloud market. With a global infrastructure network spanning 26 geographic areas and 70 availability zones, including two data centers in Jakarta, Tencent Cloud offers over 400 technologies and connectivity solutions for enterprise-grade digital transformation. The establishment of local data centers brings Tencent Cloud’s services closer to customers, reducing data access delays, complying with regulatory requirements, and offering additional disaster recovery options across the Asia-Pacific region.
Jimmy Chen, Vice President of Tencent Cloud International and Managing Director of Southeast Asia, stated, “We are delighted to solidify our position as a major international cloud services provider alongside EPIX in Jakarta. This achievement reflects our 20+ years of technological innovation and a robust infrastructure foundation. By establishing this connection, we take a significant step towards promoting connectivity in emerging markets and advancing digital infrastructure. We are genuinely excited about the vast opportunities this collaboration presents and remain fully committed to accelerating digital transformation across diverse industries in Indonesia.”
Jonathan Chou, Chief Product Officer of Digital Edge, emphasized, “Digital Edge is committed to providing diverse connectivity options for our colocation customers, including internet exchanges to enable peering and foster a thriving digital ecosystem within our data centers. Collaborating with leading cloud services providers like Tencent Cloud enables us to further our mission to bridge the digital divide and strengthen digital infrastructure across Asia’s rapidly growing markets, including Indonesia.”
