Vertiv AI Innovation Roadshow returns to Africa in virtual format

Global provider of critical digital infrastructure solutions, Vertiv, will host the next edition of its AI Innovation Roadshow for Africa as a virtual event on Wednesday, April 15 at 11:00 AM SAST (10:00 AM WAT)

The webinar, themed AI-Ready Data Centres for Africa: Building Infrastructure for What’s Next, will examine how African facilities can prepare for the demands of AI-driven computing, cloud expansion, and accelerating digital transformation across the continent.

The session will focus on the infrastructure requirements needed to support high-density workloads, with particular attention to power systems, thermal management, and modular data centre architectures designed for scalability and operational efficiency.

Speakers include Wojtek Piorko, Managing Director for Africa at Vertiv; Jon Abbott, Technology Director; Andrew Carikas, Senior Manager, Technical Sales (Thermal); and Haroun De-Almeida, Senior Manager, Technical Sales (AC Power). The discussion will cover the impact of AI workloads on data center strategy in Africa, evolving power and efficiency requirements, advances in cooling technologies including precision and liquid cooling systems, and modular approaches to scaling future-ready facilities.

A panel session titled Powering AI in Africa: Exploring readiness, infrastructure challenges and scalable growth will feature Piorko alongside industry leaders including Ayotunde Coker, Chief Executive Officer of Open Access Data Centres (OADC) and Temitope Osunrinde, Director, Africa Hyperscalers.

“Africa represents a strategically important market in the global AI landscape, with growing investment in digital infrastructure,” said Piorko. “This next phase of Vertiv’s AI Innovation Roadshow brings together regional expertise and global insight to explore the practical realities of preparing data centres for AI workloads and the infrastructure strategies required to support efficient and sustainable growth.”

Participation in the webinar is open to infrastructure operators, enterprise IT leaders, and policymakers interested in the continent’s evolving AI-ready data center ecosystem. Registration link is in the link. To find out more on Vertiv’s infrastructure solutions for AI, visit the Vertiv AI Hub.
