Equinix opens new data center in Nigeria.

Equinix has launched its latest data center expansion in Nigeria with the opening of the LG2.3 in Lagos. The new facility marks a significant step in strengthening Nigeria’s digital ecosystem and expanding access to secure, scalable infrastructure for businesses across West Africa.

According to the statement, LG2.3 provides cutting-edge colocation and interconnection services, enabling companies to accelerate their digital transformation and connect seamlessly to global networks. The launch is part of Equinix’s broader effort to bolster digital capacity in key African markets.

The inauguration was led by Bruce Owen, President of EMEA at Equinix, alongside other senior executives including Wole Abu, Managing Director of Equinix West Africa, and outgoing MD Funke Opeke. Company leaders also visited the Governor of Lagos State and hosted a customer engagement event with major players in Nigeria’s tech and business sectors.

“Today’s opening is a clear demonstration of our commitment to investing in Nigeria’s digital future,” said Owen at the event. “The partnerships and innovation we see here continue to position Nigeria as a digital leader in the region.”

Speaking on the importance of the facility, Wole Abu noted, “Data centers are vital infrastructure for economic growth. As digital adoption increases, Nigeria and the broader African region are showing strong potential for innovation and development. Equinix is advancing three major data center projects in Nigeria and planning future expansion into Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, and South Africa.”

The LG2.3 launch follows Equinix’s acquisition of MainOne in 2022 and represents continued momentum in establishing world-class digital infrastructure across Africa. With growing demand for cloud services, fintech, and enterprise connectivity, the new facility is expected to play a pivotal role in powering the region’s digital economy.
