Airtel Africa has unveiled its new subsidiary, Airtel Africa Telesonic (Telesonic), aimed at addressing the growing demand for wholesale data across the continent. With an extensive network spanning 75,000 kilometers of terrestrial fiber across Airtel Africa’s 14 markets, Telesonic plays a pivotal role in enhancing connectivity, particularly in critical sectors such as education and healthcare, thereby improving access and efficiency in these domains.
Telesonic’s offerings include a comprehensive range of products such as national and international leased lines, dedicated internet access, IP and IP transit services, and multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) services. This strategic initiative underscores Airtel Africa’s commitment to leveraging advanced fiber-optic solutions to empower businesses, education, healthcare, and communities, ultimately contributing to the digital transformation of the continent.
Segun Ogunsanya, CEO of Airtel Africa, emphasized the significance of Telesonic in addressing Africa’s evolving digital landscape and meeting the escalating demand for data, particularly among the continent’s burgeoning youth population.
