Raxio Group, one of Africa’s fastest-growing data center operators, has inaugurated Raxio Angola, a $30 million Tier III facility that more than doubles the country’s capacity.
The 19,000-square-metre campus in Cacuaco, Luanda Province, delivers up to 3MW of IT power with room for 800+ racks and is designed to scale to 7MW within five years. Strategically close to Angola’s subsea cable landing stations, it will also host the national Internet Exchange Point to keep traffic local and improve connectivity.
“Raxio Angola represents a leap forward for our country’s digital economy,” said Mário Oliveira, Angola’s Minister of Telecommunications. “This significant investment supports our vision of becoming a regional technology leader.”

The facility is built to international engineering and security standards, with dual substations, backup generators, and UPS systems to ensure resilience. It also emphasizes sustainability, drawing 70% of its power from renewables and recycling water on-site.
Maria Miguel Pinto, General Manager of Raxio Angola, called the project a “turning point”, saying it would unlock faster, more reliable internet and boost competitiveness. Raxio Group CEO Robert Skjødt added: “We are not just building infrastructure – we are laying the foundation for a thriving digital economy that empowers entrepreneurs, supports innovation, and strengthens Angola’s role as a regional hub.”
The launch extends Raxio’s portfolio to six live sites across Africa, including Uganda, Ethiopia, Mozambique, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Côte d’Ivoire, with further projects planned in Tanzania and beyond.
