Nigeria’s telecoms regulator to keynote Africa Hyperscalers AI-readiness session.

The Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Dr. Aminu Maida, will deliver the keynote address at the upcoming Africa Hyperscalers AI-Readiness Session taking place on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.

The virtual session, themed “AI-Ready Africa: Building the Compute, Cloud, and Connectivity Foundations for the Next Digital Leap,” will bring together telecom operators, cloud and data center executives, policymakers, and technology leaders to discuss what African countries must build to support artificial intelligence at scale.

The conversation will examine how AI will reshape network planning, data center capacity, cloud infrastructure, and power systems. It will also consider the policy and regulatory shifts needed to encourage investment in AI-ready digital infrastructure.

Other contributors to the session include Tony Izuagbe Emoekpere, President, Association of Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria (ATCON); Dr Ayotunde Coker, Chief Executive Officer, Open Access Data Centres; Bukola Ajayi, General Manager, Architecture & Enterprise IT, MTN; Kendall Ananyi, Chief Executive Officer, Tizeti; Oladejo Olawumi, Director, IT Infrastructure Solutions, National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA); Okechi Osuagwu, Regional Account Executive, Vertiv; Mike Salem, Vice President/Chief Information Security Officer and Group Head of Artificial Intelligence; and Dotun Adeoye, Co-Founder, AI in Nigeria.

Temitope Osunrinde, Executive Director of Africa Hyperscalers, said the session is intended to support the industry in moving from awareness to readiness. “AI offers major opportunities for Africa’s digital economy, but we must ensure our networks, data centers, and talent capacity can support this next wave of innovation,” he said.

The session will take place online at 10:00 AM WAT and is open to senior executives, network planners, regulators, and technology partners.
