Bayobab, MTN Digital Infrastructure’s commercial operating brand, has appointed Sajid Ahmad Khan as Regional Managing Director for South and East Africa, effective January 5, 2026, as the company deepens its focus on regional execution across its pan-African connectivity platform.

In the role, Mr. Khan will oversee Bayobab’s operations across South and East Africa while also leading the company’s business in Kenya. His mandate includes driving commercial performance, accelerating network monetisation, and strengthening customer value delivery through tighter cross-border coordination and operational leadership.

“Sajid is widely recognised for building future-ready teams, promoting operational excellence, and navigating complex market environments,” said Mazen Mroué, Chief Executive Officer of MTN Digital Infrastructure. “His leadership and experience will be instrumental in advancing our regional growth ambitions and enhancing the value we deliver to our customers and partners.”

Bayobab has positioned the appointment as part of its broader effort to translate its continent-wide network assets into stronger regional impact, leveraging next-generation connectivity and digital platforms to support enterprise growth, innovation, and digital transformation across Africa.

Mr. Khan brings more than 26 years of global leadership experience, spanning Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. Most recently, he served as Group Managing Director, Digital Services at SEACOM, where he held multiple senior leadership roles across the group. His career also includes executive positions at Liquid Intelligent Technologies, Expresso Telecom, Etisalat, du, and the Aditya Birla Group.

Bayobab said Mr. Khan has a strong track record of transforming traditional operating models into agile, digitally enabled, and high-performing organisations – an experience the company expects to deploy as it scales its regional footprint and strengthens its role as a core digital infrastructure provider across Africa.
