CloudReady Nigeria roundtable will examine data residency, cybersecurity, compliance, resilience and local infrastructure readiness

Africa Hyperscalers will convene regulators, banks, fintech companies, payment operators, insurers, pension institutions and technology providers for the CloudReady Nigeria Financial Services Roundtable on October 7, 2026, at 9.30 AM (WAT) in Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria.

The invitation-only session will examine what Nigeria’s emerging sovereign cloud and data-governance frameworks mean for financial institutions that manage sensitive customer information and critical digital services. It will bring regulators, financial operators and infrastructure providers into the same room to clarify policy expectations, identify implementation challenges and consider how the industry can move securely from compliance planning to adoption.

Nigeria’s financial sector is one of the country’s largest users of cloud computing, data centre capacity and digital infrastructure. As regulatory attention shifts toward data sovereignty, cybersecurity, and operational resilience, banks and other financial operators must decide where data is stored, how critical workloads are distributed, and what standards local infrastructure providers must meet.

The programme will feature keynote presentations on Nigeria’s sovereign-cloud direction, followed by a panel discussion titled, “From Policy to Implementation: What Cloud Sovereignty Means for Banks, Fintechs, Insurers and Other Financial Operators.”

Confirmed speakers include Dr Ayotunde Coker, Chief Executive Officer, Open Access Data Centres; Segun Adeniyi, Chief Digital Officer, Wema Bank; Oyaje Idoko, Chief Executive Officer, Layer3; Stephen Okoye, Chief Operating Officer, Nobus Cloud; Barrister Babatunde Bamigboye, Head, Legal, Nigeria Data Protection Commission, and Temitope Osunrinde, Executive Director, Africa Hyperscalers. Senior representatives of the National Insurance Commission, Central Bank of Nigeria, Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System, OPay, Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation and National Information Technology Development Agency will join them.

Discussions will address data residency, cross-border transfers, cloud security, customer trust, provider certification, business continuity and disaster recovery. Participants will also examine the cost of migrating critical workloads, the readiness of local cloud and data centre infrastructure, and the opportunities that growing financial-sector demand could create for Nigerian technology companies, cybersecurity providers and skilled professionals.

The roundtable is intended to clarify regulatory expectations, identify infrastructure and compliance gaps, and develop practical recommendations for secure cloud adoption across Nigeria’s financial-services industry. Its outcomes will contribute to the wider national effort to stimulate domestic demand for cloud and data-centre services while attracting investment into local digital infrastructure.
