2Africa Subsea Cable lands in Ghana

2Africa subsea cable, owned by Meta, Bayobab, and other consortium partners, has landed in Accra, Ghana. This marks the third out of six planned landings for Bayobab, showcasing their commitment to expanding connectivity across Africa.

The 2Africa subsea cable system, set to be completed in 2023 and 2024 for the western and eastern regions of Africa, respectively, will contribute to improving cable resilience, enhancing broadband penetration, and boosting international connectivity in Ghana. This landing underscores Bayobab’s dedication to supporting the country’s evolving communication needs and digital transformation.

The landing in Ghana strengthens Bayobab’s presence in the country and contributes to the Group’s strategic expansion goals. Ghana serves as a vital access hub for neighboring countries like Togo, Burkina Faso, Niger, and Mali, playing a crucial role in driving digital acceleration in the West Africa region.

The expansion of submarine cable systems in Ghana aligns with Bayobab’s long-term vision to support the country’s economic growth, meet connectivity needs, and enhance resilience in the face of disruptions.

In October 2022, Bayobab opened its Global Customer Success Centres in Ghana and Kenya, marking a significant milestone in enhancing global customer service. This move reinforces Bayobab’s commitment to delivering top-notch services and support to its customers.

To further strengthen its commitment to Ghana, Bayobab has appointed Daniel Asare as the Managing Director for Bayobab Ghana. With extensive experience in sales, marketing, business development, and general management in the telecommunications and ISP environment, Daniel will oversee local business and strategic growth in the region.

Bayobab’s overarching goal is to connect Africa with next-gen digital solutions. The 2Africa subsea cable landing in Ghana aligns with Bayobab’s target to roll out a total of 135,000 km of proprietary fiber by 2025, solidifying its position as the leading African fiber player.

In realizing its strategy, Bayobab emphasizes the power of partnerships to drive innovation and deliver next-gen digital solutions across the African continent. The 2Africa subsea cable landing in Ghana is a pivotal step in achieving this vision and connecting Africa for a digitally empowered future.
