Cassava Technologies shuffles leadership amid strategic evolution

As part of its ongoing growth trajectory and commitment to enhancing its competitiveness, Cassava Technologies has announced key leadership changes designed to improve operations and position the company for success in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.

Following the successful completion of its equity round and the reorganization into an integrated digital solutions platform, Cassava has reinforced leadership across its diverse offerings, including Broadband Connectivity, Co-location (data centers), Cloud, Cyber Security, Compute (AI), and Payment services, in over 30 markets across Africa, the Middle East, India, and Latin America.

Effective March 1, 2025, Ahmed El Beheiry, formerly CEO of the company’s Compute AI division, has been appointed COO and Chief AI Officer, overseeing commercial strategy, business processes, CIO functions, and supply chain. Deon Geyser, previously CEO of Liquid South Africa, has been promoted to CEO of Liquid Networks, responsible for connectivity services across Africa, including fiber, satellite, wireless, and wholesale voice. Ziaad Suleman will become CEO of Cassava South Africa, leading the company’s growth and innovation strategy for the South African market. Adil El Youssefi has been appointed CEO of Cassava’s Co-location business. Wellington Makamure, former Regional CEO of Liquid Telecom Southern Africa, will now serve as CEO of Rest of Africa & International, overseeing operations outside South Africa. Finhai Munzara, previously interim CEO of Africa Data Centres, has been appointed Chief Corporate Development Officer, responsible for Mergers & Acquisitions, corporate finance, and strategic partnerships. Bronwen Zehmke has been named Group General Counsel for Cassava Technologies. Leonard Bore will take on the role of Chief Risk and Compliance Officer, managing compliance, enterprise risk, internal audit, and ESG teams. Sharon Marufu has been named Chief Supply Chain Officer, overseeing group-wide supply chain and procurement. Lorreta Songola has been appointed Managing Director of Cassava Zimbabwe, leading operations in the region.

The company recently announced the completion of its legal reorganization into an integrated digital solutions platform, a $90 million equity investment round, and the successful refinancing of its USD 220m South African Rand (ZAR) debt.
