Leading digital infrastructure company, Equinix, has announced the appointment of Adaire Fox-Martin, former Head of Google Ireland and Google Cloud go-to-market President, as its new CEO. Fox-Martin’s appointment follows the transition of current CEO, Charles Meyers, into the role of Executive Chairman.
Fox-Martin brings technology experience of over 25 years from global companies, such as SAP, Oracle and, most recently, Google, where she was President of Go-to-Market for Google Cloud and Head of Google Ireland. She has previously served as President for SAP Asia Pacific and Japan, President of Google Cloud International, and has been a member of the Equinix Board of Directors since 2020.
Outgoing CEO, Charles Meyers, expressed his confidence in Fox-Martin’s capabilities and experience, especially within the context of digital transformation, rapid AI adoption and the opportunities the demand for digital infrastructure presents to Equinix “I am confident that Adaire’s capabilities and experience will be deeply additive to our team and our culture, helping us meet the evolving needs of our customers, fuel our growth and unlock the extraordinary power of Platform Equinix. I am grateful to our board for their support of my desired transition timeline, and excited to assume the Executive Chairman role and actively support Adaire as she leverages her tremendous global experience to extend and expand our market leadership,” he said.
Meyers, who joined the company in 2010 and assumed the role of CEO in 2018, has been instrumental in shaping Equinix’s successful strategy. Under his leadership, Platform Equinix expanded to encompass over 70 markets across 33 countries, solidifying the company’s position as a global leader in interconnection and advancing the platform to accommodate hybrid and multi-cloud environments as the preferred architectural framework. During his tenure, Equinix experienced a remarkable six-fold increase in revenue and added over $80 billion in equity value. Meyers’ legacy includes active investments in emerging markets, notably Africa, where the company committed approximately $870 million to enhance its presence, and the Asia Pacific region, where it has invested over $600 million since 2018.
