Nvidia’s CEO, Jensen Huang, believes that Malaysia can become a potential hub for artificial intelligence (AI) manufacturing, thanks to its expertise in manufacturing, including packaging and assembly. Huang asserts this makes Malaysia well-suited for AI manufacturing.
While he didn’t confirm ongoing talks between Nvidia and Malaysian conglomerate YTL Corp., he acknowledged the company’s significance in potentially setting up AI data centers.
During a media roundtable in Kuala Lumpur, Huang praised YTL Corp., stating, “YTL is an extraordinary company and has an incredible leadership and legacy.” He emphasized Malaysia’s importance in the computing infrastructure of Southeast Asia (SEA), citing the country’s accessibility to land, facilities, and power.
Huang noted that Nvidia was collaborating with 80 AI startups in the country. According to Huang, Malaysia’s success in the data center infrastructure layer of computing makes it a crucial part of the AI and cloud ecosystem.
Discussing the broader context, Huang expressed confidence that Southeast Asia is poised to become a significant technology hub. He cited the region’s proficiency in packaging, assembly, and battery manufacturing, along with its strengths in various aspects of the technology supply chain. Huang also mentioned the likelihood of Southeast Asia becoming a hub for AI computing, emphasizing the need for AI data centers tailored to local cultures, languages, values, literature, and common sense.
