Raxio Group, a leading pan-African data center operator, marked a significant milestone by laying the foundation stone for its cutting-edge data center, Raxio Angola, in Cacuaco, on the outskirts of Luanda. The event, graced by Mr. Adão Pacheco Valentim, Administrator of the Urban District of Cacuaco, underscores Raxio’s commitment to bolstering Angola’s digital infrastructure.

Raxio Angola is set to be Angola’s first independent and neutral Tier III certified data center. As part of Raxio’s expansive network across seven African nations, this facility positions Raxio as the continent’s largest geographically present data center operator.

Angola has witnessed rapid growth in its digital and telecommunications ecosystems, boasting an internet penetration rate of approximately 27%. This new data center will enhance Angola’s role as a regional digital hub, facilitating peering and driving regional and international digital traffic.

Scheduled for launch in the second half of 2024, Raxio Angola will offer an initial capacity of 3MW, expandable to 7MW, accommodating over 1,600 racks. The facility will feature state-of-the-art power, cooling, and security infrastructure, including AC/DC power compatibility and complete redundancy.

Raxio Angola’s strategic location, with proximity to submarine cable landing points, local fiber connectivity, and easy road access, positions it perfectly to meet customers’ primary and redundancy requirements.

This facility embodies Raxio’s commitment to sustainability, prioritizing energy efficiency and ESG metrics. Local and international contractors have been selected to ensure excellence in design and equipment.

Robert Mullins, CEO of the Raxio Group, highlighted the company’s dedication to providing vital digital infrastructure to Angola and the region. He emphasized Raxio’s focus on scalability and hyperscale-ready facilities to meet the increasing demand for connectivity, storage, and data processing.

Raxio Angola joins the Raxio Group’s portfolio, which spans Uganda, the DRC, Mozambique, Ivory Coast, Ethiopia, and Tanzania. The Group remains dedicated to expanding its geographic footprint and capacity to meet the region’s burgeoning demand for secure and reliable data center solutions.
