Vertiv has introduced the Vertiv™ EnergyCore battery cabinets, designed for high-density computing environments. These Lithium-Iron-Phosphate (LFP) battery cabinets are factory-assembled, compatible with Vertiv’s three-phase UPS systems, and offer a compact design that provides 263kWb in a 24-inch wide unit. “Lithium batteries are more compact and lighter than traditional VRLA options,” says Milind Paranjape, Vice President of Energy Storage at Vertiv, allowing for fewer battery cabinets in various applications.
The EnergyCore cabinets simplify deployment with features like an internal two-hole lug that eliminates the need for conduit boxes and external control wiring, reducing setup time and costs. They also include an interactive touch screen HMI display and a battery management system with onboard data storage for performance tracking and predictive analytics. For remote monitoring, the Vertiv™ Alber™ Battery Xplorer Enterprise is available.
Milind notes, “With the proliferation of AI and high-performance computing, delivering more power in smaller, hotter spaces is essential. Our EnergyCore cabinets meet this need with compact, high-power energy storage that operates safely and efficiently.”
The modular design of the Vertiv™ Trinergy™ UPS system pairs seamlessly with the EnergyCore battery cabinets, requiring only two cabinets for each 500kW Trinergy™ UPS core. The cabinets are UL 1973 listed and comply with UL 9540A standards, waiving the typical three-foot spacing between racks, thus saving space and speeding up deployment.
