MTN appoints Liquid veteran to lead Centre of Excellence

MTN, one of Africa’s leading telecommunications companies, has announced the appointment of David Behr as the new Chief Executive of its ICT Centre of Excellence (CoE), effective from November 1, 2023. Behr, an industry veteran with over two decades of experience, currently serves as the CEO of Liquid C2 at Liquid Intelligent Technologies. He brings a wealth of experience in enterprise cloud, cybersecurity, IoT solutions, and platform development, among other areas.

Behr’s impressive career includes the founding of one of Zimbabwe’s first Internet Service Providers (ISPs), which he helped transform into the largest ISP in the country. He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Master of Science in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Bristol in the UK.

In his new role as CEO of MTN’s ICT CoE, David Behr will focus on advancing the company’s strategic initiatives, strengthening partnerships, and driving innovation to enhance customers’ digital experiences. His appointment is part of MTN’s goal to maximize its strategic alliance with hyperscalers and other essential partners.

MTN South Africa CEO, Charles Molapisi, expressed his confidence in Behr’s exceptional career and deep industry knowledge, stating that he is the ideal choice to lead MTN’s ICT CoE. Behr will play a crucial role in the organization’s continued growth and its commitment to delivering cutting-edge solutions to customers.

The ICT Centre of Excellence (CoE) is a central unit within MTN responsible for developing and promoting best practices, processes, and standards for the business.
