The global ambition in technology and infrastructure is scaling unprecedented heights, with investments growing from $10 billion compute clusters to trillion-dollar ecosystems. As artificial intelligence (AI) continues to dominate the technological landscape, total AI-related investments are projected to surpass $1 trillion annually by 2027. This surge is driving extraordinary demand for GPUs, data centers, and power infrastructure, fueling a fierce global race to secure critical resources such as power contracts, voltage transformers, and computational hardware.
Amid these developments, Africa is emerging as a player to watch. Despite persistent infrastructure challenges, the continent is experiencing a data center and connectivity boom. Since 2022, Africa has added 25 new carrier-neutral data centers, with an additional 15 expected by 2030. Its international bandwidth growth has outpaced regions like Asia and Latin America, although the supplied capacity of under 50 TBPS remains a small fraction of the 800+ TBPS design capacity of its 33 subsea cables. While first-mile, middle-mile, and last-mile connectivity challenges persist, the ongoing expansion of infrastructure promises to bridge digital divides and accelerate AI-driven progress across the continent.
To explore these developments, the Africa Hyperscalers Digital Infrastructure Outlook 2025 Webinar will bring together leading experts and stakeholders to discuss the evolving digital infrastructure landscape. With theme “Scaling Africa’s Digital Future: Innovation, Infrastructure and Investment for 2025”, the virtual session, which holds Friday, February 14, 2025, will examine surging demand for data center services, the rise of cloud adoption, and the expansion of connectivity, while addressing foundational growth drivers, emerging trends, and the challenges and opportunities shaping Africa’s digital future.
The speakers include Abibat Kazeem, Commercial Lead at Bayobab; Dr. Tunde Coker, Chief Executive Officer, Open Access Data Centres (OADC) and Chairman of Africa Data Centres Association; Guy Zibi, Managing Partner at Xalam Analytics; Johnson Agogbua, CEO of Kasi Cloud Data Centres; Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, CCIE, Director General, National Information Technology Development Agency; Obinna Isiadinso, Data Centers Global Sector Lead, International Finance Corporation; and Olabode Ojo, Vice President at Global Independent Connect Limited (GICL).
This event is a must-attend for technology leaders, investors, policymakers, and innovators seeking insights into Africa’s pivotal role in the global AI race and its rapidly expanding digital infrastructure. Join the conversation and discover how Africa is positioning itself at the forefront of this trillion-dollar transformation.
